“Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God”…I sang this song today at church. To most, it was just an old song they haven’t heard in a while, but it meant much more to me. Let me take you back (just a few years 🙂
I was around 23 years of age and I had begun taking guitar lessons. I was not a Christian, though my guitar instructor was. There was going to be a guitar recital, and I was a bit nervous. I had never played my guitar (or sang) in front of people before. I was shy and my confidence was low, but I decided I needed to fight through my anxiety. I chose to perform a Christian song that my teacher had recommended…one that I remembered from my pre-teens while attending church with my mom. I remember the recital…my mom came to support me (as she still does). My hands were shaking…my guitar was shaking…and my voice was shaking, but I did it! I made it through…as bad as it was.
The words of that song were like seeds sunk deep into my soul that stayed with me through the dark years of my life. Today as I sang that song once again, I was reminded of who I was then. I am so thankful for all God has done to bring me to where I am today. Now I long to encourage and help others tap into all that God has for them. I see the God given potential in so many people around me.
The time has come to lay aside your fears. It is time to stop worrying about what others think of you. It is time to surrender to His will and become all He has called you to be. Meditate on these words….carry them with you…and your lives will be forever changed…
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness
and all these things shall be added unto you
Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find
Knock and the door shall be opened unto you
